I received my book today and opened it up to read a random poem. The first poem I read was We Are Not Free and it instantly brought tears to my eyes and then I paged through and read Prostitute and the tears began to flow. Marcel has such a raw talent that has to be; that needs to be shared with the world. I've never been a prostitute but I felt that pain and sorrow. He paints a vivid picture of life and the perception of life. I encourage everyone young or old to pick up a copy.Product details

I just got my new copy of this hip-hop-influenced and spoken-word-styled poetry book...good stuff! A lot of it I recognize from Poetry Jams I attended in the past, but a few I haven't seen before. I just read "Fell out of Love" and the emotions were really intense, I could totally relate, even shed a tear or two! haha...not even kidding. Good work brother!
As a person who writes as well I must say that this book of poetry is a well put together piece of written art. It will engage you to think about what each poem means no matter what type of background you had as a person growing up. The words will make your mind create imagery that will cause you to place yourself in that situation that the author is speaking about, which in return will make you really pay attention to what the poem is really saying. I would recommend this book to any reader.
These poems are great for any school teacher gathering cultural data sets for poems and writing. The poems are poignant, filled with metaphors, illustrations that pair well with the poems itself, and offer a great insight to realities of life.
