I received a kindle as a gift for christmas/birthday because I have always loved to read and because I started traveling more and more. I love the amazon kindle that I have. I had an app on my old smart phone because I always wanted to read. While traveling, having my kindle helps kill time during waiting periods, especially during lay overs. I have had some lay overs lasting over 10 hours. Having a plethora of Amazon kindle books to choice from is fun when I get ready for a trip. I selected this book in the middle of a binge purchase and I am glad I did!

I enjoy sinking my teeth into a quick read of all types of genres and being able to just stick my head into a different world allows me to escape from the world and any current stress. I love both fiction and non-fiction, allow the world of fiction reads allow you explore a new place without having to go far. I can read through a 300 page book in two days, I love connecting with a story and a character. There is a great joy from completing a good book. I can read while listening to music or even watching tv. I really do not like when someone interrupts me when I read, I can get so engrossed that I do not want to pull out and entertain conversation. The worse is when people want to talk about the book you are trying to read. If you wanted to have a conversation, you would not be reading. I do not understand why people think it is find to just randomly start conversations that are not needed.

I have found that the kindle fad has started to dwindle, but it is a great innovation that I am happy to have because of that access to millions of titles and I look forward to downloading more as I plan more travels and can travel to new worlds in my head before traveling to new lands.

Border Lord Arnette Lamb 9780671779320 Books Reviews

I was amazed when I saw this book being offered, because I knew Arnette Lamb had passed away back in 1998. I loved the way she portrayed Lady Mariam in this book as a strong female with an important position and a little bit of power over the men around her. I was a little disappointed that Ian/Duncan's character played such a deceitful person, and I wished that Mariam could've made him work harder to win her back, after the truth came out. Even though he eventually did 'come clean' with her, I didn't have a lot of respect for they way he handled himself. I gave it a three star rating because of this, and also I wish there was more to the epilogue and their life after their marriage. I was left with many unanswered questions. Some of those questions might be answered in Border Bride because it's about two of the 'later grown' children from this story. I'm just not sure I want to spend $3.00's to find out. If I can get Border Bride from the library it might be worth it. We'll see.

This is a story that I remember from when I was in middle school. The author, Arnette Lamb, had such a way with words that they just jumped out from the pages at you and put you right there in the book, in the scene with the all the characters.

The Hero, Duncan Kerr is out to reclaim his birthright from the treacherous Baron Sinclair . By Day, Duncan is laird of Kildalton and by Night, he is the Border Lord, fighting injustices to his clan.

Lady Miriam was sent to try to broker a peace treaty with Duncan but the only thing that ended up happening was that Duncan and Miriam couldn’t broker anything. Arguments happened. Misunderstandings Happened. Slowly they fell in love and that is when the real fireworks happened. Because by day Duncan was the Laird of Kildalton but by night, he is the Border Lord.

Duncan is hilarious, while Miriam is splendidly BEDEVILED as she is swept off her feet by Duncan's "alter ego." The author, Arnette Lamb, had such a way with words that they just jumped out from the pages at you and put you right there in the book, in the scene with the all the characters. I truly love this story. I cant wait to read next up in this series, which is Border Bride… I give this story 5 stars. It is a story of heartache, of loss yet at the same time, it is a story of new love, of seduction
Set in 1713 in the Scottish borderlands, this is the story of Lady Miriam MacDonald, diplomat for Queen Anne who is being punished by the queen and sent to the Scottish borderlands to negotiate a peace between Duncan Kerr, the Earl of Kildalton and Baron Sinclair, who have had a running feud for years involving more than stolen cattle.

By day, Duncan dons the disguise of a bumbling nobleman with a wig and spectacles, hoping to fool Miriam about his night raids. By night, Duncan is the infamous “Border Lord” who raids the baron’s English lands to reclaim what is his.

Miriam befriends the earl and falls prey to the seduction of the Border Lord, never knowing they are the same man. She is determined to negotiate a peace but she doesn’t know the truth of the feud. And she doesn’t know the Border Lord is falling in love with her.

It’s a fanciful but clever story that, at times, reads more like a Regency with its witty banter and female diplomat, but it is also well-written and very entertaining. Lamb has created a wonderful cast of characters, including Duncan’s son who changes his first name each day and takes on the personality of the person whose name he bears.

This unlikely but delightful tale will hold your interest. It’s the first in the Border series
