Murder Red Ink Mord McGhee Books
Wow. I loved this book by Mord McGhee. Ghosts of San Francisco was exciting but this went beyond that. Way beyond. Murder Red Ink is also more polished than Ghosts. The story feels fuller and more satisfying. This is a story that combines the 19th century back-alley streets of London with a futuristic version of what ghosts really are. (Yes, the ghosts from his previous novel are here as well!) I was intrigued but a little skeptical when I read the description. It totally works! This "ghost" theory could explain everything. I'm still not sure about the JFK tie-in. I think I have to read it again to see what I missed. I was so busy turning pages that in the excitement I think I missed some details. No problem! Will definitely read this one again. Maybe during daylight hours.
Parts of it are very creepy and disturbing. Kind of a Thomas Harris feel to them. I actually put the book down once with a shudder and walked away. Got a drink of water and came right back because I wanted to know what was going to happen next. No, I didn't just want to know... I HAD to know!
One of my favorite things in life is finding a new "sleeper" author who ends up with the next book that everyone is reading. I read Gillian Flynn and Justin Cronin before their books became best sellers. I think I found another one with this guy!

Murder Red Ink Mord McGhee Books Reviews
I met author Mord McGhee at the Horror Realm Con, Greentree, Pittsburgh PA in March 2015. He and his wife were promoting Mord's books and he had help from fans and followers who formed a kind of Mord's Army. They made the atmosphere a lot of fun for people stopping by their table. I obtained two of his books and I must say, Murder Red Ink delivered on plot and characters. This book was creepy and suspenseful. It will have you sleeping with the night light on. Looking forward to his followup work.
Disclaimer I received an e-copy in exchange for an honest review.
I personally loved "Ghosts of San Francisco" and I'm an avid reader of anything having to do with Jack the Ripper, so when I was given the opportunity to read and review "Murder Red Ink," there was no way I could pass it up. And once again, Mr. McGhee does not disappoint!
This book involves a very interesting take on the Ripper murders, and it kept me engrossed from beginning to end. There were many times I had to put it down because of that pesky thing called "life," but I just didn't want to, and that's how you know a book is awesome.
Wonderful novel, tantalizing plot and theories, and another great story from this author. Keep 'em coming! =)
5 stars
I'm a sucker for buying books from their authors at conventions. I'm usually disappointed in the product, but I like to support their efforts. When I bought "Murder Red Ink" at Horror Realm in Green Tree, PA a few weeks ago, I wasn't expecting a story of this caliber!
Imagine a future where your cellphone is imbedded in your body at birth, your "Social Link" is a mandatory accessory, and the technology to become a ghost exists. If you could turn yourself into a poltergeist, an invisible ghost that has the ability to interact with the world, what would you do? Spy on a girl in the bath? Acquire confidential trading secrets? Kill?
The story of a techno-monster, flitting through time to influence the past and the future, is an interesting and unique one. We are transported back and forth between the years 1888 and 2111, following Jack the Ripper in London and ...something... in the future!
Thank you, Mr. McGhee! I'm glad you persuaded me to purchase your books. I will have to read "Ghosts of San Fransisco" now, because I should have read it first. Keep up the great work!
Mord McGhee has done it again!
In this stunning and positively horrific prequel to his masterpiece “Ghosts of San Fransisco,” Mord has taken the readers to where it all began.
And Jack the Ripper has never been more terrifying.
Ghosts come to life in an era of technology close enough to smell. Joseph is haunted by dreams so real, it’s almost as if he’s there. Allena is on the run for her life, caught up in something much bigger than she realizes. It’s so much bigger than any of us realize. By the time things come to a head, it’s almost too late.
The characters were excellent. Each one had their own voice, their own individuality. Never once did I feel as though they were cardboard cutouts simply going through the motions of their narrative. A heavy change in tone takes place when the settings switch and it will send shivers down your spine. The reactions his word choice evokes is so strong you begin to wonder if you yourself aren’t there, watching, almost…participating.
There were a few errors throughout the book, but not enough to detract from the overall experience. The ending was a fast-paced thriller that sets things up perfectly for the follow-up.
A stunning penchant for murder, lust, and the most brilliant conspiracy theories, Murder Red Ink is like the grisly crime scene you can’t stop staring at.
Very well written. Held my attention. Had trouble putting it down. I plan to read more books by Mord McGhee. Good to see a writer from my hometown.
Original idea but was VERY hard to follow and often totally incongruous! I pretty much gave up at some point.
Loved this book. Thrilling and exciting front to back. Looking forward to reading more from Mord.
